Here's another commission from our recent short-term 'partnership' with the guys down at Project Kahn, as we set about overhauling some of their stock back to an acceptable showroom condition again. This one saw us undertake our most demanding job yet for them, a rather 'tired and neglected' 2014 Mercedes ML63 AMG.
The ML was a recent addition to their stock and it was soon evident that the 'Panzer' wagon had obviously had a bit of a hard life with it's previous owners, as when I arrived the paintwork was showing the very obvious signs of this... Heavy Swirl marks, deeper scratches and plenty of stone chips and road rash were evident which all contributed to a very dull and almost lifeless finish to the paintwork, certainly not what you'd usually expect from a car finished in the usually rather impressive Obsidian Black.
However, mechanically the ML was in perfect order having been regularly serviced and ran sweet as a nut, hence why the guys at Project Kahn decided it was worth giving the car a new lease of life knowing that underneath there was still a good car in there hiding behind all the 'noise' in the paintwork!.
So, upon inspection it was soon obvious that the usual 2 stage Minor Correction that we would normally carry out for them in this instance wasn't going to be anywhere enough to deal with all the problems we were facing, so it was decided that our Major Correction Detail was to be the order for this one!. Being a minimum of 3x polishing stages it was hoped that this would give me hopefully enough initial 'cutting power' to get through all but the very deepest scratches whilst still affording me time to then refine the finish back up to the desired showroom finish again.
